According to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), by the end of 2008, the number of operating contracts for cellular telecom services (active SIM cards and cards of other standards) all over the world will reach 4 billion units. Thus, if in 2000 only 12 % of the world’s population used mobile phones, by the end of 2008 this parameter will reach the level of 61 %.
